I admit I did not like the movie at first, at all. I had a “do not want” face while the credits rolled. So what changed? Setting my genre watching to “musical” rather than “movie” for one.
But ultimately that essentially the movie was saying love isn’t just how you feel. You can love someone and still hurt them – even while trying to help them. But that when you listen and hear what they need rather than what you want them to need, that’s when love is able to succeed.
So there was far more than just a stunt retelling of true love.
