Inspiration: dozens of photos of women in sheer white dresses from portraits of the time as well as fashion plates

I happened upon a cotton mosquito net at a 2nd hand store and realised it was essentially 20m of sheer cotton gauze at a price I could never match buying new. I did wear the wee bonnet, but it has been passed on to a friend along with the dress.

The skirt has a foundation of sheet weight cotton the bodice the same as well as canvas. The contrast trim is blue velvet ribbon.

The hairstyle seen in the fourth photo can be replicated using the method under the articles tab at the top of the page.

The bodice and skirt are very much repeats of past pattern attempts. The skirt pattern is based on my tutorial for Historic Skirt Guides, and the bodice from several contemporary pattern drafting books.
