Mah Joan Jett inspired Sith šŸ˜‰ Basically my sick of all the paint for Darth Tykhi costume…

Also netbook cover full of all the winners clutched in my left hand.

2011 Year in review :)

Ā

Shaak ti The Force Unleashed, Darth Tykhi (own design based on Legacy era Sith) Miss verity Pride, Big Game Hunter and balloonist, Shae Vizla, Shaak Ti AotC, Mina.

Missing is my 1830s white cotton day dress… all the photos of that one seem to be missing. hmmm…

It doesn’t look like much until you break each costume down into the various componants…

Darth Tykhi šŸ™‚ I missed this one. I love it! And yes that is a heavy headpiece, why do you ask?

Actually it balances well it’s just due to the nature of the lekku hanging from the lower parts of the neck it is much harder to move the head than with other aliens šŸ™‚

Not all the stripes are mine! Now this really makes me want to try for a very stripey pattern next time… I want a real jungle type shoot where the markings really make so much sense šŸ™‚

I always thought Shaak Ti reminded me of a kind of predatory herbivore šŸ˜‰ The red is very clearly a natural colouration for “Beware, danger” while her stripes allow blending into long grasses but the horns remind me of antelope.

The tentacles.. well okay then I think of an octopus, but mainly because on our own planet they tend to belong in the sea. And they are dextrous.

Prehensile tails then? Tiger tails.

I have mentioned the moth butt in my livejournal. The rear lekku in shape is very much that of a butterfly or moth. It’s one of the reasons I really love her over the other aliens in the saga, there are so many visual references.

ā€œIā€ look perturbed, tired and grumpy. So how I normally look at a con šŸ˜‰
Thanks to Kristy and Matt I am attending D*C šŸ˜‰ I was going to do a regular Shaak Ti but figured Tykhi was more appropriate.

The adventures of Darth Beari shall hopefully continue šŸ˜€

Oh, just for interest, this was a bear keychain originally. Hot pink with silver splashes. The montral and lekku were modelled in clay, modeled in plaster and cast in latex. She is a bit rough as left her to the last minute. the latex is thicker than I wanted so I had to cut her original ears off šŸ˜‰ And she is mostly held together with Shoe Goo šŸ˜‰
