Screen shots, for art…

So. There really does seem to be very little to see in the way of how the chest piece fits together.

That said it does look like the outermost coller sits under the body at the back and over at the front. There are some clipping issues on the female model sadly. But I think I have enough info to work out the basic shape of the frame the armour is built over.

I may or may not do the helmet at any stage. With my new head cast I could of course. Anyway. I think the upper arms will be possible to make from pipe. The thighs too but they may need to be slightly bigger pipes than I currently have. Just for that one piece that scoots in under the butt.

Nice to see the belt line works to divide movement between the hip and thigh pieces but it is actually a little high still to allow for real world motion. I may have to adapt a bit here.

The greaves and knees could be leather for sure. Really am considering making the thigh and arm pieces leather too. So easy to cut and I should be able to drape the pieces over the mannequin to get the butt scoop.

Sigh…

As expected I have come to a point in the game where I cannot go further. Way too much pressure on my hands. Reaper. That targetting system thing is just getting me every time because I can’t move fast enough. I wish there was some sort of override system…

Have you tried looking up Mass Effect Models for XNA Lara? There’s usually that sort of stuff ripped from PC games which you can rotate and view to your heart’s content. There’s even stuff from games I’ve done.

/Homer Doh!.. I found heaps a while back, but was focused on Nyreen rather than Femshep. Thank you 🙂 I actually also have the Tomb Raider Anniversary edition and have bookmarked the forum that explains how to get it all to work 🙂 In 16thC costuming the common cry is “hey lady turn around” here it’s “Hey lady lift your arms. 😉 I wonder if a certain purple wearing green and blue sith is available. Never have forgotten her. Made a friend wave the Wii around a bit to unlock her. Well more than a bit. A lot.

Foam and paper :)

So I’m now completely confused as to where I have posted what but here we go:

Foam shopping success! That lime green mat was super cheap and will be used, see notes below 😉

Madame Foamy! So named for obvious reasons 😉 This will make several projects infinitely easier!

The extra foam on her back has been filleted back to approximately my size and now she is at least useable if not pretty! A new skin will be added once I can. But this was enough for right now…

So, project progress!

I may have my own personal preferences for methods of costume production. The trend towards traditional and long lasting. For good reason. I can’t make all the things all the time so what I do make I want to last forever because I have -50 health and thus can’t just make another copy at will.

But I also know there are techniques out there other use and use well and if I am to judge them fairly I should have some hands on experience.

So I have started making the Blood Dragon armour from Mass Effect (2 and 3, but 3 as I have my Lizzie Shep running around in it and can get references) and side by side with my own techniques I’m testing out folding and scaling in pepakura (I did have Blender on my old comp to try and make 3D objects from scratch but haven’t set anything like that up on here). But most people use in game models. That said I have tried wrapping my brain around modeling and I know it’s that step further- like drafting/draping and using a commercial pattern or making vacform bucks and using preformed parts.

So I’ve used a small model as a start and got it to scale and made sure I liked the overall effect. The rest of the process is much like what I have already done with Shae- except that was hand drafter on the form. So I can leave the paper where it is now 🙂

The next step will involve using foam as a base to fiberglass over. So again I’ll get a handle on how to glue and fit with foam but I’ll be using it as a template rather than final product.  I have an idea on how to really make this relatively fast and not require too much sanding….

Reblog if you think your voice is unattractive.

Sidenote I LOVE YOUR VOICE <3 <3

Not so much unattractive as not really reflective of me. It’s extremely high and girly and my singing voice has too much damn vibrato (it used to be a very flat tone, dunno when the vibrato went nuts). And yes I used to speak too low in an effort to be taken more seriously.

I also sound like I’m trying to affect an accent, but it’s mainly a matter of growing up with three distinct regional dialects (yep we have them in NZ) and trying to be understood when speaking. It’s not RP and I still drop into unaccented vowels regularly and roll my Rs sometimes like a good Southern girl. But it’s really not a broad Kiwi accent.

Oh yeah and years of singing lessons where you have to record your lesson and play it back? Uck- hearing both spoken and singing voice. But I am able to pick my voice out in choral/group recordings.
